Theme: Spring Fever
Goals:
To increase cultural awareness and camaraderie among students through individual presentations.
To familiarize students with using authentic listening materials.
To raise learner awareness about informal spoken language patterns.
Objectives: Students Will Be Able To…
1. Recall & review vocabulary from Unit 2 by playing Taboo.
2. Discuss the idea of Spring Fever and watch/listen for detail using an authentic video from the New York Times.
3. Analyze authentic informal spoken English and present their findings to the class.

Theme: Child's Play
Goals:
To increase student familiarity with the past perfect tense.
To practice talking about life accomplishments.
Objectives: Students Will Be Able To…
1. Practice using the past perfect tense through both written and spoken tasks.
2. Better differentiate between the past simple and past perfect tenses through awareness
3. Talk about their own life accomplishments and those of several famous child prodigies using the past perfect tense.

Goals:
To foster learner autonomy and increase exposure to vocabulary learning outside of the classroom.
To practice fluency and storytelling; to introduce verb + object + to + infinitive sentence structure.
Objectives: Students Will Be Able To…
1. Define and use new words they and their classmates have encountered in the “real world.”
2. Recall previous vocabulary through a fluency and storytelling activity.
3. Use the structure verb + object + to + infinitive to talk about orders, requests, permission, persuasion, and advice.

Goals:
To practice using transitions and summarizing in a communicative speaking activity.
To become familiar with and practice writing formal vs. informal letters and emails.
Objectives: Students Will Be Able To…
1. Use basic transitions to summarize a discussion and in a letter of inquiry.
2. Distinguish between and write formal and informal letters and emails of inquiry with proper conventions, content, formatting, organization, and register.
